January 11, 2017 – Tony McCombie Sworn in as State Representative


Tony McCombie (IL-71) took the official oath of office at University of Illinois at Springfield’s Sangamon Auditorium in Springfield, marking the start of the 100th General Assembly.






February 1, 2017
– Rep. McCombie filed her first bill, HB 617, and has filed three more bills since. 

  • HB 617is designed to help local governments receive tax dollars faster from the state.
  • HB 2834will ensure the EDGE tax credit, which has been used to create 8,100 jobs in the last two years, remains in place for businesses of all sizes looking to expand in Illinois.
  • HB 2894gives property tax relief to senior citizens by conservatively increasing the income threshold needed to freeze property taxes from $55,000 to $60,000. 
  • HB3657will allow existing nuclear plants, such as the one in Cordova, to make necessary capital improvements. 


February 3, 2017 – Rep. McCombie Received her Committee Assignments for the 100th General Assembly


Rep. McCombie was assigned to serve on six committees in the 100th General Assembly. The assignments are as follows:
  1. Transportation: Roads & Bridges
  2. Business & Occupational Licenses
  3. Tourism
  4. Business Incentives for Local Communities
  5. Cities & Villages
  6. Elementary & Secondary Education: Curriculum & Policies

March 21, 2017 - McCombie Honors Helen Scott Hay for Women's History Month



State Representative Tony McCombie (IL-71st) honored Helen Scott Hay, a trailblazing nurse from Savanna, in a speech on the floor of the Illinois House of Representatives.

Helen Scott Hay devoted much of her life to the Red Cross The Red Cross is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.


April 7, 2017 - McCombie Co-Sponsored Bill Provides Property Tax Relief Passes House


HB156 passed the House by a vote of 108-1. It conservatively increases the general homestead exemption from $6000 to $8000, and increases the senior citizen homestead exemption from $5000 to $6000. It also provides that the standard homestead exemption for veterans with disabilities also applies to veterans who are 75 years of age or older. Under the legislation, senior veterans become eligible for an exemption of $2500, and it creates a statewide long-time occupant homestead exemption.

McCombie's Traveling Office Hours


Since taking the oath of office on January 11, 2017, Representative McCombie has held traveling district office hours in the eight locations across the district. The traveling hours are important so constituents have access to both Rep. McCombie and her staff. 104 constituents with a wide range of issues relating to state government have taken advantage of traveling office hours so far.



January 27, 2016 - Rep. McCombie Visits the Rock Island Arsenal 


Rep. McCombie was given a tour of the Rock Island Arsenal by Maj. Gen. Edward Daly.
The tour reinforced the importance of the Arsenal to the district. 


February 3, 2017 – Meet and Greet with Sen. Neil Anderson


Sen. Anderson and Rep. McCombie held a "Meet and Greet" at Colona Grade School.


February 25, 2017 – McCombie Participates in the Patrick Henry Town Hall

Rep. McCombie was invited to speak with residents from Henry County. 
March 2, 2016  – McCombie visits John Deere with GOP Leader Durkin

Illinois Republican Leader Jim Durkin (IL-82) and Rep. McCombie visited with employees at John Deere.

Pinnacle Place Manager JoEllen McCaskey and tenants recently hosted District 71 State Representative Tony McCombie. Tony Spoke to the residents about the State budget, local issues, and on how sessions work in Springfield.
